Old mercury fillings can be safely removed under carefully controlled circumstances and then replaced with (mercury-free) alternatives.

 

To prevent inhalation of vapours/ aerosols a nose piece will be used to allow you to breathe positive pressure pure oxygen (O2) OR a Sedative mixture (O2 & N2O) adjusted to your preferred levels.

 

It is also considered essential to protect your eyes (with protective eyewear) and nose.

 

Rubber dam protection is used - (a sheet of latex surrounding the tooth, isolating it from the rest of the mouth) during amalgam removal.

 

High speed air rotor, with high volume water (on maximum) ensures good irrigation and high power suction is used to remove the amalgam material efficiently and avoid ingestion (swallowing).
